For those who use ANSI classifications, this discussion board serves to provide a forum for addressing areas which users feel are not clear, not covered, new, or need additional explanation or examples. This Board also provides an opportunity to address any discrepancies between ANSI D.16 and MMUCC v.5.  Please note that these two standards (MMUCC and ANSI D.16) should be consistent, but need not be word-for-word.
Consistency in data collection and management are of the utmost importance in terms of addressing traffic safety issues and determining causation and mitigation. Only those on the front lines of data collection can ensure that these guidelines are up-to-date, correct, and fully meet your needs.
With this discussion board, ATSiP is striving to keep abreast of all changes in technology, usage, definitions, and emerging issues. ANSI D.16 will be a much more useful resource if we keep it continually updated and responsive, rather than reviewed only at multi-year intervals.
Thank you for your assistance and contributions. As you know, accurate data and optimal collection and evaluation of data are the best means of providing solutions to traffic safety issues and  developing life-saving interventions and improved traffic and vehicle engineering.
We understand that data  collectors, managers, users, and analysts have varied perspectives. This forum is meant to help address and harmonize those perspectives for the benefit of all roadway users.

I'll initially input some discussion items that have been received to date. These are comments from various users even though they will have been input by and be attributed to me.
