Purpose:

Technology is moving faster than the ability of most state or local agencies to update their strategic plans, let alone fund incorporation of new technology.  With the ever-popular "do more with less" policy the basic operating rule in most agencies, there is a growing need for traffic records systems managers and planners to be aware of successful, innovative programs.  The purpose of the Sub-Committee on Best Practices is to seek out examples of the successful exemplary projects and to recognize the people and agencies that are responsible for those projects.

2001 Project:

During calendar 2001, the Committee worked to identify examples of "best practices" in each of the various component areas of traffic safety data systems.  These include:

At the 2001 Traffic Records Forum in New Orleans, and at the Orlando Forum in 2002, the Committee will recognize exemplary programs at the federal, state and local levels.
