Panel session discussing strategies, software, hardware, databases, and applications related to probabilistic data linkage.

Roadway Inventory Town Meeting
This session will present the new “Draft Guidelines for Location Referencing of Highway Safety Data” as developed by the NSC Best Practices Committee.  Attendees at the session will then be offered an opportunity to interact with the project team to add additional input to the final version of this document.

Best Practices In Highway Safety Data - Part I
T
his session will include presentations on efforts to define best   practices in each of the components of the highway safety data system and a briefing on the NHTSA / NSC effort to provide guidance to states and locals in these areas.

Best Practices In Highway Safety Data - Part II

 Technology Clearinghouse
What’s new, what works, and where to get it

Crash Reporting System Upgrades
Who is doing what to improve crash reporting systems.

  Law Enforcement Clearinghouse
What is happening with law enforcement and collection of the data.  Are we moving forward?

Internet - Basic Capture of Data
How we can use the internet to help capture data from accidents, EMS Runs and other Safety Data.

Internet Reporting and Highway Safety Engineers
How engineers can use the internet to gather data.

 Internet Future Applications
Future uses for internet - traffic data collection and availability

 Drivers/Vehicles New Technologies
GPS, black boxes - what data is available.

ANSI D20.1 and D16.1 Updates
Updates and rewrites of the Manuals for Classification.

What is happening in FARS.  Updates and availability.

CODES Data Application Session
Examples of the use of CODES linked data in safety programs.

CODES 2000 Data Linkage Session
Update on the new CODES-sponsored probabilistic linkage software.

Safe Communities
The customers for traffic records data.  How Safe Communities programs use safety data, and how they obtain data that might not be available at the State level.

 Taming the Numbers Course
Overview and discussion of the new NHTSA / NAGHSR sponsored course on the use of data in safety programs.

Traffic Records Activities - Hot Issues
What is taking place around the nation, regional reports.
