Joyce Emery, George Oster and Dr. Reg Souleyrette, Dr. Jacqueline Comito,  Iowa Department of Transportation

Joyce Emery

Joyce began her career as a biologist, teacher, and researcher. Then she took that Ph.D. (Florida State University, 1973) and did something entirely different with it as the Program Evaluator of the Iowa Governor's Highway Safety Office. That was 23 years ago, and she has never wanted to leave the profession since.  For the past 15 years, Joyce has been a program manager in the Iowa DOT Office of Traffic and Safety, reporting to the State Safety Engineer. She has been active in various organizations, in particular this one, having been a board member and officer during the 1980's. She presided as Chair for the San Diego Forum of 1988, and currently is serving another term on the Executive Committee.  She has been a Co‑Chair of the Statewide Traffic Records Advisory Committee since its inception in 1994. Her favorite part of the job has been writing skits for STRAC conferences starring all her famous Iowa colleagues!
