Alan Smith earned his Master’s degree in Public Health from San Diego State University in 1996 and is currently a Ph.D. candidate in epidemiology through the joint program at San Diego State University and the University of California at San Diego. His past experience includes research in the areas of tuberculosis, immunizations, and neurodegenerative diseases. Mr. Smith is currently an epidemiologist with the County of San Diego Division of Emergency Medical Services, where his duties include conducting population-based injury research as well as real-time public health surveillance.
