Users: Part II Joyce began her career as a biologist, teacher, and researcher. Then she took that Ph.D. (Florida State University, 1973) and did something entirely different with it as the Program Evaluator of the Iowa Governor's Highway Safety Office. That was 23 years ago, and she has never wanted to leave the profession since. For the past 15 years, Joyce has been a program manager in the Iowa DOT Office of Traffic and Safety, reporting to the State Safety Engineer. She has been active in various organizations, in particular this one, having been a board member and officer during the 1980's. She presided as Chair for the San Diego Forum of 1988, and currently is serving another term on the Executive Committee. She has been a Co‑Chair of the Statewide Traffic Records Advisory Committee since its inception in 1994. Her favorite part of the job has been writing skits for STRAC conferences starring all her famous Iowa colleagues!
Robert SchultzRobert Schultz is an education consultant, software trainer, Beta tester, and technical support person for the Iowa DOT/Traffic and Safety Office. Mr. Schultz is also a member of the Statewide Traffic Records Advisory Committee, serving as the software educational consultant and as liaison with local safety data users. Mr. Schultz’s background has been primarily in education and custom software training. He has provided statewide software training for the Iowa DOT since 1989. Mr. Schultz has also taught high school English and American History in Iowa, Missouri, and Niger, West Africa. The birthplaces of his sons are just one example of the diversity of Mr. Schultz’s background. One son was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, one son was born in Niamey, Republic of Niger, West Africa, and two sons were born in southern France. |
