Joe Sanders is currently the Director of the Office of Driver Safety for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, one of many positions he has held in his almost 30 years of service with the Department.  Joe is the Vice-Chair of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) Driver License and Control Committee.  He is also the Chair of the AAMVA Subcommittee on Uniform Identification Practices.  Joe was a recent member of the AAMVA Task Force on Identification Security, and his Subcommittee is charged with the design and implementation of many of its procedural and technical recommendations and strategies while working closely with the Information Technology and other committees to develop stakeholder involvement and legislative programs.  Joe has worked on various AAMVA international projects for over 15 years, helping develop the U.S. Commercial Driver Licensing System and driver licensing/ID standards.  Joe holds M.S. and B.S. Degrees in Management Science and Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York.
