BTS TransStats System

Location - Durango 2
Moderator - Richard Paddock,
CEO, Traffic Safety Analysis Systems & Services
The US-DOT Bureau of Transportation Statistics (BTS) is chartered to provide transportation data resources to the US-DOT as well as the rest of the transportation community.  Since it’s creation a few years ago, BTS has compiled a massive inventory of US-DOT data files and developed an extensive Metadata Inventory of those systems and file.  In addition, they have developed a very flexible and powerful web-based tool for accessing the metadata, as well as the actual data files - TranStats.  The TranStats web site provides access to many of the US-DOT data resources and allows the user to perform various ad hoc queries and analyses.  This session will provide an overview of the TranStats web site as well as a discussion of its future.  Those participating in the session will be provided an opportunity to provide BTS with input about those data files and functions that might best meet the needs of state and local safety data users.
