1) The project lets our customers access the latest statistical data from the State of Maryland on INTERNET.

2) The project significantly reduces the cost of printed publications on Traffic Safety Statistics.

3) The project can be used as a template for future statistical annual abstracts presented online in the same format at reduced costs.

4) The project is fairly timely and accurate for Maryland Factbook statistics and conforms to the Maryland Environment initiative to place 80% of business functions online by 2004.

Major Processes:

Five-seven people reviewed the product including managers, and an internal committee to ensure it's accuracy and completeness by the project engineer. The time to complete the project was 5 months for the 2000, 2001, and individual factsheets.  NHTSA factsheets were used as the model for this group of products.  The author wrote them while working on his Ph.D. at University of Maryland College Park and returned to complete his dissertation requirements after his tenure at SHA was complete in October 2002.  He spent a year with us from October 2001 to October 2002 on various other projects and reports also such as Statewide Work Zone Safety and Pedestrian Safety reports.  His writing skill enabled him to use the laptop computer and create a product that was really well accepted by his peers.
