“3.13 Truck Classification by Weight” describes the weights of trucks involved in motor vehicle accidents, based on gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR). Regulations 49 CFR 383.91, 49 CFR 350.105 and 49 CFR 390.5 all are based on “gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR)”. (GCWR is the sum of the GVWR of the truck and the GVWR of the trailer(s)). Similarly MMUCC uses either GVWR or GCWR.
Should D16 define Truck Classification by Weight to allow either GVWR or GCWR?
