Abstract: Ignition Interlock Devices (IID) are a relatively new tool to reduce the recurrence of impaired driving on Wisconsin roadways. There is increasing interest in the potential benefits of IID. However, there are still open questions about their long-term effectiveness for traffic safety. For this presentation, the TOPS Lab collaborated with the WisDOT Bureau of Transportation Safety Chemical Test Section to pilot and document the benefits of real time data collection of ignition interlock devices.
